"Welcome to Blatchley Middle School Shop Class, where we will learn how to be safe learning to work with wood.
We need to have certain procedures to be successful in wood shop. Our curriculum begins with shop safety. We teach safety first, last, and always. There are a number of rules that we need to follow to be safe. The first rule is that students are not allowed to enter the shop unless the door is open and the instructor is present. This means that student may have to wait in the hall until the instructor lets students in. Remember, students are not allowed to be in the shop without an instructor.
The next thing we will do is check off on tools. To do this we will follow the handout on tool check off procedure. We will read safety rules, take safety tests, and demonstrate the safe use of tools.
When you have been checked off on a tool you will get Mr. Jordan's signature on the back of your shop folder. We can easily look and see which tool each student is checked off on.
After you are checked off on tools you will create a project plan and build your project on paper. We will go over what kind of wood to use, how big to make your project, how to measure the board feet, which tools you will need, and lots of other fun steps to plan and build your project on paper. We do project plans so that If you make a mistake it is easy to erase and correct the mistake on paper before we make a mistake cutting expensive wood.
After you have created your project plan, we will get lumber from the lumber room masters. Lumber room masters are students that are appointed or elected to work in the lumber room. When you get your lumber from the lumber room master you can begin work on your project.
To be successful in shop you have to use your time wisely, problem solve, ask questions, and be responsible for tools and parts and pieces of your project. After you are done and you have completed your project, including sanding and finishing, you will score your project. Students will use the Project Scoring Rubric handout that explains exactly what criteria earns a good grade.
I look forward to working with you and being safe!"

The two column story table is a way to help plan the digital story. On the left hand side is the text that will be in the video. On the right hand side is the media or images that will go with the text.
This is my reflection about the project, how I think you can use digital stories with my students, and some of my opinions and perspectives of how media and technology play into the education of today's students.

Individual Educational Project- this assignment, was to plan and execute a very small project that allowed me to familiarize myself with some type of educational technology that will benefit students in my content area.
Here is the Rubric for my Individual Education Project. I learned how to use We Video to make a quick how to video. The rubric will be used to grade my students on their videos.
