The internet resources assignment had me build a list of interesting sites related to my content area:
This is the very first website I ever created. It's a very basic outline of my shop program. Eventually I'd like my website to be as detailed as some of the veteran teachers.
I tried using this online safety testing as part of the tool check off procedure for my shop students. Some of the students were able to log in and pass many tool tests while other students had trouble with user name and password. Until students have more access to computers in my class, I do not plan on using online testing.
This site is a good example of using video to problem solve and explain findings. You have to check out this website for many reasons!
This website helps people start learning how to work with wood. It's a nice way to give beginners confidence in starting a new skill set.
This is from the engineering website. It is a game that measures hand eye coordination and can be addictive!
This is from Butte County in California. It is a compilation of lesson plans for career and technical education. I have used this website for ideas for some of my lesson plans and activities.
This site is a model for how to run a successful sixth, seventh and eighth grade shop program. I found it interesting that Mr. Wiemer's father was also a shop teacher. Thank you Mr. Wiemer for making your information accessible via the web.
I found this set of exercises and plan on using them to help teach measurement and drafting for my middle school students.
This is a great site for how to make projects that combine science, technology, engineering and mathematics into engaging shop projects. I plan on building putt-putt boats in my shop class.
As the name states, this is the website for the Alaska Department of Education. This department regulates the teaching profession and informs teachers of rules, responsibilities and changes in the teaching profession.
